Never, never leave your pet unattended in a car for any length of time. Leaving a dog in a car in warm weather is the most common cause of heat stroke. A sunny day can turn a metal car into an oven pretty quickly. Even with the windows rolled down, the temperature inside a car can reach up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit in half an hour. If you absolutely have to leave your dog in the car, park in a shady spot and periodically check on him. Keep in mind that a shady spot can soon turn into a sunny one.
